Congratulations to our colleagues at AECOM and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) on reaching a key milestone with the Advanced Zoning Programme (AZP). This initiative represents a crucial step toward scaling up sustainable heat networks across England and accelerating progress toward the UK’s net-zero goals.
The commitment to zonal heat network development marks a pivotal shift for the energy sector, providing long-term certainty for planners, developers, and investors while paving the way for greener and more resilient cities.
The Advanced Zoning Programme will support the delivery of zonal-scale heat networks across England. Plans are already in motion for the first networks in Leeds, Plymouth, Bristol, Stockport, Sheffield, and two schemes in London. This funding allocation represents one of the largest commitments to date for heat network zoning in England, signalling strong government support for low-carbon heat infrastructure as a cornerstone of decarbonisation efforts.
At Recirc Energy, we are delighted to have supported AECOM and DESNZ in the development of the Advanced Zoning Programme. We applaud this transformative step toward a future where low-carbon heat powers communities across England.
This achievement sets the stage for an exciting new chapter in the journey toward net-zero cities and a cleaner energy future for all.
